WELCOME TO
MIKE PETERSON'S LIST OF
LIST OF RECOMMENDED WEB SITES

In the past I have dealt with loads of web sites. Almost without exception the service I have received, and sometimes the product quality, has been awful. I hope to help users of this site to choose good suppliers of goods or services by listing the few sites where I have received both good service and good products, all at a reasonable price, or even free. Try them and see for yourself.

Ford Hall Farm
An excellent supplier of organic meat and related products such as chutneys, jams, mustards, etc. The web site works well. If you ask them to deliver to a farmer's market they regularly attend, that's no problem, and the meat quality is excellent. Their prices are also reasonable, unlike many organic suppliers who charge 'the earth'!

Auctiva
I use Auctiva now for all my E-bay listings. They offer a facility for creating your listings and for hosting your images which costs about £2.00 a month if you don't list a high volume of items. E-bay charges for image hosting, over and above the first one. If you have a problem, just ask. The staff are really prompt and helpful. And they don't bullshit. Their cures for problems actually work.

Google Mail
Provided by Google, best known for its excellent search engine, I use Google Mail (previously Gmail) all the time, as my main e-mail provider. It's free, and it has loads of excellent facilities, including the capability to display messages in your favourite e-mail program (Thunderbird in my case), and, best of all, a practically infallible spam filter. Their help facility is prompt and helpful.

Firefox
Firefox is a good alternative to Internet Explorer for looking at internet pages. It is completely free, and is sufficiently similar looking to Internet Explorer to be easy to learn. However, it looks and feels better to use than Internet Explorer. The two can be used together, and neither interferes with the other. The Mozilla web site describes it as "faster, safer and smarter". Download it and try it out.
